Musical passions:
It all started when a friend played "Thick as a Brick" by Jethro Tull for me: That's when I knew the flute was my instrument! Fortunately, my piano teacher at the time was also a flute teacher. The saxophone was discovered in the late 70s: Stan Getz, Jan Garbarek, John Coltrane, Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Roland Rasan Kirk, were important influences. In the 80s, jazz and free jazz were played with enthusiasm. Parallel to this was the discovery of Indian music - followed by trips to India, where a basic study of classical Indian music in Benares (India 1981) initiated a fusion of Indian and Western musical styles. Rock, soul, and fusion jazz followed in the 90s on the Isle of Wight – Meditation music: Paul Horn, Tony Scott were the inspiration. Musical inspiration came in the form of free jazz and improvised music sessions, including Gunter Hampel (Free Jazz Big Band), Helmut Engel (flute), and Herby Hard (saxophone).

Passion for sound and technology:
Already at the age of 10, I was out with the first Grundig reel-to-reel tape recorder with a microphone in hand. Then, in the late 70s/80s, the first multitrack recordings were made solo and with the support of friends. Between 1983 and 2003, I lived on the Isle of Wight in southern England. The first professional recording studio was established here and grew through a series of development stages: starting with analog recording technology with tape recorders to modern computer-based audio technology. In the 1980s and 1990s, the focus of productions and live performances was on the field of meditation and New Age music.

Since 2004, I have been back in Germany, initially in the Ruhr area and since 2010 in Wiehl in the Bergisches Land. Inspiration, experience, and empathy for various musical styles have grown and matured through the familiarity of both worlds of music and audio technology in dynamic creative and fruitful years. Collaborations with musicians and teachers from the 5Rhythms/Movement/New Age/Chant and singing scenes have made various productions, musical styles, and live performances possible. My own productions and performances cover a variety of musical styles: World-dance music - suitable for 5 Rhythms, Soulwave, Movement Medicine, and other movement-centered seminar work (long-term collaboration with David Rose, Susannah & Ya’Acov Darling-Khan) Rock, blues, jazz, folk, film music, scoring audiobooks ...
